Dr. Diana Mejia is a visionary CEO, international speaker, and community advocate who has transformed her journey of resilience and faith into a mission of empowerment and transformation for survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse. Born in the Dominican Republic and residing in the United States since 1982, Dr. Mejia has become one of the most influential voices in Central Florida, leading with courage, compassion, and strategy in the defense of Hispanic women and families.
As the Founder and CEO of Nuevo Sendero, Inc., a nonprofit organization based in Orlando, she has designed and implemented innovative programs that go beyond emotional support, creating spaces for healing, self-sufficiency, and professional development. Under her leadership, landmark initiatives have been launched, including the Hispanic Institute of Human Behavior, the Self-Sufficiency Academy for Women, the Annual Domestic Violence Summit in Orlando, the iconic event Lighting Orlando Purple, as well as high-impact programs such as Art for Healing and Purple Ambassadors.
Her vision is inspired by a spiritual calling she received more than two decades ago:
“To be a chosen woman who raises a fearless voice in the face of the pain of families suffering from domestic violence and sexual abuse; to become, by God’s grace, a voice of comfort in the storm, hands that lift up the fallen, and a gaze that plants hope.”
Recognized as a speaker on local, national, and international stages, she is also a recurring voice in the media, where she guides communities to available resources and urges society to take an active role in ending violence. Dr. Mejia holds a Doctorate in Ministerial Leadership, a master’s in clinical and Pastoral Counseling, and certifications in Nonprofit Management, Chaplaincy Counseling, and Case Management.
Her leadership has been recognized with numerous awards, including honors from the City of Orlando, the United States Congress, the Orange County Department of Health, as well as institutions in the Dominican Republic. These recognitions reflect her prestige and the impact of her work at the local, national, and international levels.
